Who are we? We are Plunkett UK (www.plunkett.co.uk), a charity supporting rural communities across the UK to set up businesses that are owned and run by local people. From pubs and shops to farms and woodlands, we have helped over 850 community businesses to thrive. We have been asked by Gallagher Developments to consult with the community on the development of this Pavilion.
What’s a Community-Owned Business?
It’s a trading business run for local benefit, where decisions are made democratically by members of the community. These ventures create jobs and volunteering opportunities, boost wellbeing and can build and strengthen community cohesion. As part of the proposal for PSC7 Land at LVS Hassocks, the Chapel will be repurposed with the aim of providing a home for a community-owned business that can bring benefit to the wider community of Sayers Common.
This is where you come in! This project is at a very early stage, but we would love your input on how this Chapel could be used, what benefits it might bring to the community and how you might like to get involved.
